Prints at Eyeball Kicks

I've had these two prints for sale at the fantastic Eyeball Kicks gallery in Wellington, NZ for a while now, and I don't know that I've ever pimped them!
Bad Greg!

They're selling quickly nevertheless, so get in quick if you want to grab either of them.
They are limited to 20 (Idrisopod) and 30 (The Fall) prints, and are signed and numbered.

New prints on the way too, to coincide with the White Cloud Worlds exhibition at the Dowse.

Are the buildings in the front of the robot painting taken from a study of a real street?

Thanks Zachary! I'll try and do some cheaper prints in higher runs at some point.
Hey Sprigmude. No the buildings in the painting are created by hand (and brain) in photoshop.
No reference or photos in this case(although there are some photographic textures overlayed)

I will go tomorrow buy a mastercard, put money on it, and purchase this right away.

Hey Ryan, I don't handle the numbers I'm afraid, you'll have to ask the guys at Eyeball Kicks.
I think they take Paypal also.

Ryan, Would there even be originals?
They are done on a computer in photoshop.

Greg, I was wondering about the big robot one. Did you draw a horizon and single point perspective lines to get the street in the forground looking right? What about the forshortening on the windows,is that by eye?

Greg Broadmore said...

Hey Sprigmude,
Yes, very rough one point perspective hacked in, and the foreshortening is just judged by eye.
I did try and learn the rules for perspective drawing once, but I promptly forgot them all, so I mostly use my intuition.
I do curse myself every so often for not paying attention in tech drawing classes at school. They would have been helpful.
But I was too busy drawing ninjas decapitating each other.

e the giant robot.
It looks good.
Even though the lines don't converge, somehow it works.
It reminded me of Japan for some reason.
Giant robots are very big in Japan.
Here are a few long forgotten Giant robots that you might get a kick out of.

Gigantor or Tetsujin 28-go
Mitsuteru Yokoyama 1956.
Frankenstein, Jr.
Hanna-Barbera 1966.
The Big Guy and Rusty
Frank Miller/Geof Darrow 1995.
